Radiant Health sauna review: the recall, the Pause lineup and what it costs

4 infrared saunas, $5,840 to $8,820. Start with the recall. Every Radiant Health sauna sold from 2013 through August 1, 2026, Elite and Pause alike, is covered by CPSC recall 26-784, announced on September 17, 2026: the infrared panels can short circuit and overheat. If you own one, the notice says to stop using it and book the free in-home repair through Sauna360, the company that makes these cabins. New cabins ship with the fix already applied: the brand says everything shipped after August 2026 has the CPSC-approved remedy, and warns that delivery may take longer than its usual 2 to 4 weeks.

On paper the four Pause cabins are a tidy lineup: $5,840 to $8,820, all 120 V, a lifetime warranty on the carbon heaters and published EMF and VOC lab reports. Buy one if you want a plug-in cabin with that warranty and can wait the 4 to 6 weeks the brand quotes for delivery. Skip it if you need a sauna this month, or if you might send it back: returns are accepted only in unopened boxes, with fees. JNH and Health Mate ship now and cost less for two seats.

Is there a recall on Radiant Health saunas?

Yes, and it covers the whole brand. On September 17, 2026, the CPSC announced that Sauna360 was recalling about 41,580 infrared saunas, hybrid saunas and infrared kits in the US (plus 6,758 in Canada) because the infrared panels "can short circuit, causing them to overheat, posing a risk of serious injury from fire and burn hazards." Sauna360 had 67 reports of overheating, melting, charring or burning, and no injuries. The Radiant Health models named are the Elite E-1H, E-2H, E-2.5H, E-3H, E-4H, EC-3H and EC-4H and the Pause P-1H, P-2H, P-2.5H and P-3H, plus the Canadian -CA versions, alongside Finnleo, Helo, Tylö and Saunatec cabins from the same maker (CPSC recall 26-784). They sold for $6,000 to $13,000 through Costco, pool and spa dealers and online.

How to check yours. The CPSC says the serial number is under the lower bench or on the wall under the upper bench, depending on the unit. Radiant Health's own safety notice explains how to read it: on an Elite, the three digits in the middle of the serial are the model (810 is the E-1H, 820 the E-2H, 825 the E-2.5H, 830 the E-3H, 840 the E-4H, 870 the EC-3H, 880 the EC-4H); on a Pause, the model code starting with "P" is spelled out in the serial, with "CA" after it on Canadian units.

What to do. Don't use the sauna until a technician arranged by Sauna360 has applied the fix. You don't need to unplug it, the brand says, just stop using it. Enroll through Sauna360's recall form with the serial number, model and series; no proof of purchase is required, because the recall follows the sauna, not the buyer. Questions go to Sauna360 at 866-936-5962 (weekdays, 8 to 5 Eastern) or recall@sauna360.com. Radiant Health says it can't see the status of individual cases.

What it means for a new buyer. In the weeks after the announcement the brand's site said shipments were paused pending CPSC approval of the remedy. As of Oct 26, 2026 that notice is gone: every Pause product page now carries a banner that "all saunas shipped after August 2026 will have the CPSC approved safety remedy applied" and that "shipping times may be slightly longer than our usual 2–4 weeks"; the shipping guide quotes 4 to 6 weeks to arrival. So a new Pause arrives with the fix, but not quickly. The same recall covers the Finnleo S-Series, which is why both brands are missing from our pick lists; more on the recall and others like it in our sauna safety guide.

The Pause lineup: four sizes, one spec sheet

Pause is now the only line Radiant Health sells. The four cabins share everything but size and wattage: carbon heaters in four zones (walls, bench, calf and floor, with the last three switchable on their own), a top setting of 149 °F, a 15 to 30 minute warm-up depending on the room, Canadian hemlock with no plywood, a tempered glass door that opens outward, Bluetooth speakers and an app for pre-heating from your phone. The inside is screen-free by design; the control panel sits outside.

From the Pause product pages and spec sheets on radianthealth.com, checked Oct 26, 2026.

Pause 3-PersonP-3H371.5 × 43.5 × 76.5 in65.5 × 20 in418 lb120 V / 20 A, 2,200 W$8,820

The P-1H and P-2H run on a standard 15 A outlet; the P-2.5H and P-3H need a dedicated 20 A circuit and draw the same 2,200 W, so the 3-person cabin heats a bigger box with the same heaters. The "2.5-person" is a two-seater with a 58-inch bench, wide enough for two adults and a child or for lying down. The red light is an add-on: Pause cabins are built to take the brand's Shine 2 panel (660 and 850 nm), sold separately, and I haven't checked its price. Other cabins at these sizes are on 2-person saunas and indoor saunas.

EMF and VOC: what the brand publishes

Radiant Health posts three third-party reports and quotes two numbers from them: EMF of 0.65 mG and electric field of 1 V/m "on average" at the points where your body touches the cabin, measured at more than 25 spots. It also reports zero detectable VOCs in the heated cabin and an A+ rating on the French VOC scale. These are the brand's own commissioned tests; I found no independent measurement, and the EMF figure comes without a distance, which is how most infrared brands state it (how EMF claims compare across brands). What's missing from the spec sheets is any ETL or UL listing for the cabin's electrical system; neither the product pages nor the FAQ mention one. There is no FDA record for these saunas either, which is normal for an infrared cabin.

How much does a Radiant Health sauna cost?

$5,840 for one seat, $6,940 for two, $7,760 for the 2.5-person and $8,820 for three, checked Oct 26, 2026 on the brand's site, which sells direct and prints its prices. Per seat that's $5,840 to $2,940, with the 3-person the cheapest per person. Against the 56 other infrared cabins in our database, Pause sits above the median price per seat ($3,205 against $2,750). Shipping is curbside, by appointment, in three boxes; you'll want a second person to carry them in, and the brand recommends three adults for the 90 to 120 minute assembly because of the glass front.

The brand runs seasonal discounts on its site; I don't track them here because they change, and the table above shows the list price on the day I checked.

Where to buy, and a word on used Radiant Health saunas

Only from radianthealth.com. There are no dealers or showrooms listed; Canadian buyers are sent to a separate Canadian site, and the US site ships to all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. The company behind the site is Radiant Health Saunas (USA) Inc.; the cabins are made for it by Sauna360, which the CPSC lists as manufactured in China.

If you're looking at a used Pause or Elite, ask the seller for the serial number first and confirm with Sauna360 whether the recall repair has been done. The recall is tied to the sauna, not the original buyer, so a second owner can enroll, but until the fix is applied the notice says not to use it. A used Elite with the repair done is the only way to buy that line now; the brand stopped selling it.

Warranty, returns and delivery

All 4 saunas
30 days · Lifetime
Opened saunas are not accepted. Possible fees: 5% administrative fee, restocking fee of up to $500, return shipping to the warehouse and storage fees.

The warranty is the strongest part of the offer: lifetime on the carbon heaters for residential use, 5 years on the electrical and control parts, a limited lifetime warranty on the solid wood and 1 year on the speakers, all for the original owner only. That beats Finnleo's 5-year cover on its S-Series and matches what Clearlight offers on the cabin.

Returns are the weak part. You have 30 days from delivery, and only if the boxes are still sealed: "Once opened, saunas are not eligible for return or exchange." Even a sealed return can carry a 5% administrative fee, a restocking fee of up to $500, return freight to the warehouse and storage fees, and the brand reserves the right to decline. Inspect the three boxes at the curb, note any damage on the bill of lading and photograph it; concealed damage has to be reported within five business days. Cancelling before shipment is by phone.

What happened to the Elite line

"Elite saunas are no longer available," the brand's comparison page says; Pause replaced it as the single line. By Radiant Health's own table, Elite had the same hemlock cabin, carbon heaters and EMF and VOC testing, but only the bench heater could be switched separately, and there was no external control panel, no app, no Bluetooth, no red light compatibility and no sand timer. Owners of an Elite are in the same recall as Pause owners; the serial-number guide above tells you which model you have. I found no spec sheets or prices for Elite on the current site, so it isn't in our database.

The Ensi Plus is the budget pick at $4,041 less than the Pause 2-Person, with a 2-year warranty to show for it. Health Mate is the closest match on paper: lifetime heater warranty, published EMF report, a few hundred dollars under the Pause. Clearlight has the lifetime cabin warranty too. The JNH, Health Mate and Clearlight reviews go through each one. Sunlighten sells its two-seat Signature II for $1,441 less than the Pause 2-Person; the Sunlighten review covers its warranty and why we don't link to its store. Sunlighten, Clearlight, JNH and Health Mate aren't on the recall's model list, which says nothing either way about their own wiring.

Questions people ask

Is there a recall on Radiant Health saunas?

Yes. CPSC recall 26-784 of September 17, 2026 covers every Radiant Health Elite and Pause sauna sold from 2013 through August 1, 2026, because the infrared panels can short circuit and overheat. Stop using it and enroll with Sauna360 for a free in-home repair.

Is Radiant Health a good sauna?

What you can verify: 120 V plug-in cabins at $5,840 to $8,820, a lifetime warranty on the heaters, EMF and VOC lab reports on the site, and a return policy that only takes back sealed boxes. Weigh that against the open recall on every unit sold before August 2026 and a 4 to 6 week wait for a new one.

Where are Radiant Health saunas made?

The CPSC notice lists the manufacturer as Sauna360 and the country of manufacture as China. The brand itself is Radiant Health Saunas (USA) Inc., with a separate Canadian site.

What are the downsides of an infrared sauna?

Dehydration and overheating if you stay too long, and a list of people who should check with a doctor first; the specifics, and the recalls to know about, are in our sauna safety guide.
