Almost Heaven saunas review: barrels, cubes and indoor rooms compared
11 saunas: 1 infrared sauna, 5 dry saunas and 5 outdoor saunas, $4,036.50 to $39,735. Almost Heaven's strong suit is the warranty: a limited lifetime warranty on the sauna, where Redwood Outdoors gives 1 year and Dundalk 5. Every model comes with a Harvia heater in the base price, and the barrels are made in the USA, according to the brand. The two-person Salem barrel at $4,036.50 is the cheapest way into the brand and the one I'd start with.
Three things to plan for before you order. The heaters run on 240 V and are wired straight into your panel by an electrician. Outdoor models ship 6–12 weeks after you pay. And once the boxes are open you can't send it back; even unopened, a return costs 25% plus freight both ways.

Seven models are in the table below: two barrels, a cube, a compact cabin and three indoor rooms. All but the Solide were on sale when I checked, so the table shows the brand's crossed-out price too.

Almost Heaven sells more models than we track. The Morgan and Arcadia barrels and the Escape and Auburn have their own search demand but aren't in our database yet. Four more are: the Almost Heaven Logan 1 Person Indoor Sauna one-person room at $4,172 with a 6 kW Harvia heater in the price, its infrared twin the Almost Heaven Laurel 1 Person Infrared Sauna at $5,999.99 on 120 V, the three-seat Almost Heaven Serena 3 Person Indoor Sauna from $4,725, and the Almost Heaven Alpina Outdoor Sauna outdoor cabin from $39,735 with a 10.5 kW heater. Apart from the Logan, their specs come from archived copies of the brand's pages, so they stay out of the table above until I can open the live ones.
What the lifetime warranty covers
The warranty page promises to "replace any component of the sauna room that fails due to a manufacturing defect at no charge to you." It excludes "normal weathering and wear-and-tear, improper use or assembly, or weather events," it applies only to saunas in the contiguous United States, and the word "Limited" means it "does not transfer to a second hand buyer."
The heater isn't part of that. Harvia covers the heating elements for 1 year and the other heater parts for 5, and the warranty "does not cover electrician costs incurred from any warranty claims." So the lifetime promise is about the wood and the door; the electrical part has the shorter cover, and labor isn't included. The brand's warranty page blocked automated access when we checked, so these quotes come from an archived copy from October 2025.
Returns: read this before ordering
You have 30 days from delivery, and only an unopened sauna can go back. Almost Heaven deducts freight both ways and a 25% restocking fee (refund policy); an assembled sauna can't be returned at all. On the Salem, 25% is $1,009 before shipping.
That makes the time to decide before you order, not after the pallet arrives. Redwood Outdoors handles it differently: returns by written agreement, and you take the sauna apart and pack it on a pallet, minus shipping and handling. Neither is a free trial.
Power, delivery and assembly
Every electric heater here needs a 240 V circuit and is hard-wired: 30 A for the 6 kW heaters on the barrels, 45 A for the Blackwater's 9 kW, and 40 A for the Bridgeport's 8 kW (the indoor figures come from a page excerpt). The lights plug into a separate 110–120 V outlet. The barrel manual is blunt: "All electrical wiring must be performed by A QUALIFIED LICENSED ELECTRICIAN." Get a quote before you buy, since it's part of the price.
Saunas leave the factory 6–8 weeks after purchase for the barrels and 8–12 for the Blackwater. Delivery is curbside, by truck with a liftgate or by flatbed, in flat-pack boxes, and the brand's shipping page says to "plan for at least two people to assist in setup." Carrying the parts from the curb to the site is on you.
For the base, Almost Heaven says a barrel can go on "concrete, pavers, decking, or even stone," or on firm, flat ground if you have nothing else; cabins and the cube "should be built on a prepared foundation," typically concrete. The barrel manual expects 1,000+ lbs with people inside. Whether you need a permit depends on your town and HOA, so ask your local building department.
Barrel, cube or indoor?
- Barrel if you have a yard and want the lowest price. The Salem fits two (75.25 × 39.25 in inside), the Pinnacle four. Neither comes with a roof, and the manual says water seeping between the staves "will NOT harm the sauna." Barrels from other brands are on barrel saunas.
- Cube or cabin if you want a flat floor, full-height walls and a roof. The Blackwater comes with metal roofing; it and the Solide cabin are the only models here offered with a wood-burning heater. There's no store link for either on this site; the closest cabin that has one is Dundalk's Dundalk LeisureCraft Canadian Timber Georgian Cabin ($7,616), which also takes an electric heater or a wood stove, with 5 years of warranty. More on cube saunas and outdoor saunas.
- Indoor if you have a basement or garage corner. The Madison, Rainelle and Bridgeport seat 2–3, 4 and 6, and the brand says they reach 180°F in about an hour. There's no store link for them on this site; the closest indoor room that has one is the Redwood Outdoors Haven Indoor Sauna - 3 Person ($5,499), with a Harvia KIP included but 1 year of warranty. Other indoor rooms are on dry saunas.
Two discrepancies on the brand's own pages: the Blackwater is called "4 Person" but "holds 4-6 people" in the specifications, and the Rainelle's base heater is listed as 6 kW while its description promises an 8 kW Harvia.
Where to buy
Almost Heaven sells direct, and the prices on this page are from its site. Wayfair also lists the Salem and Pinnacle barrels; its pages wouldn't open for us, so I can't confirm its current price or stock. If you buy from Wayfair or a dealer, their return terms apply instead of the ones above, so read them first.
Where are Almost Heaven saunas made?
In the USA, according to the brand's product pages for the Salem and Pinnacle barrels. I haven't found a brand source for the factory's location, so I'm not naming a town. The Solide Compact cabin's manual comes from a Finnish manufacturer, so don't assume the same for it.
Alternatives to Almost Heaven
The two outdoor brands closest in price are Redwood Outdoors and Dundalk. All three are compared on their cheapest barrel:
| Almost Heaven Salem 2 Person Barrel Sauna | Redwood Outdoors Barrel Outdoor Sauna - 6 Person | Dundalk LeisureCraft Canadian Timber Harmony | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $4,036.50 | $6,299 | $5,946 |
| Seats | 2 | 4–6 | 4 |
| Heater | Included, 6 kW Harvia | Included, 6 kW Harvia | Sold separately, electric or wood |
| Warranty | Limited lifetime on the sauna | 1 year | 5 years |
| Returns | 30 days, unopened, 25% + freight both ways | 30 days by written approval; refund minus shipping and handling | 30 days via dealer Topture; buyer pays restocking and shipping |
Redwood seats more people per dollar and includes a roof, with the shortest warranty. Dundalk's barrels can take a wood stove but come without any heater. Full review: Redwood Outdoors.
What owners say
Reviews come only from Almost Heaven's own site: 4.74 out of 5 from 19 reviews for the Salem and 4.81 from 21 for the Pinnacle. A brand controls what appears on its own site, so I read all of them rather than trusting the average.
On almostheaven.com, 5 Salem reviews call assembly easy, smooth or straightforward; one owner reports a 4 to 6 hour build with three people. (almostheaven.com) On almostheaven.com, 5 reviews single out customer service, for example a replacement light sent with no questions asked. (almostheaven.com)
On almostheaven.com, 3 reviews mention problems on arrival: warped staves or boards (extra staves were included), a missing door handle, and a first delivery that arrived damaged. (almostheaven.com)
"A handful of my staves were warped, but with the extra staves sent and the fillers I was able to properly assemble my sauna." 3-star review, Sep 2024, almostheaven.com
"I never received the heater on one of them. Also, the module it came with was damaged and wet upon arrival on one of the orders." 1-star review, Mar 2025, almostheaven.com
Questions people ask
Are Almost Heaven saunas good quality?
On what can be checked: Harvia heaters, North American red cedar on the barrels, a lifetime warranty against defects and owner averages above 4.7 out of 5 on the brand's site. The complaints are warped staves (extras are included) and parts missing on arrival.
What is the best prebuilt sauna?
The first question is where it goes, because yard and indoor models are scored separately. For a yard, see the outdoor sauna comparison; for a room inside, dry saunas.
Are there any alternatives to Almost Heaven saunas?
Redwood Outdoors and Dundalk are the closest on price; see the table above. Redwood includes more and covers less (1-year warranty); Dundalk gives 5 years but no heater.
Does Almost Heaven offer a wood-burning heater?
On the Almost Heaven Blackwater 4 Person Cube Sauna and the Solide cabin, yes: a Harvia M3, and for the Solide a Legend kit. The brand allows wood heaters on cabins, cubes and "large diameter barrel saunas"; the Salem and Pinnacle configurators list electric heaters only.
