Dynamic and Maxxus saunas review: the models, where they cost less, and what the warranty covers
9 infrared saunas, $3,499 to $6,999. Dynamic and Maxxus are two names for one company's cabins: Golden Designs makes both. They're simple far-infrared boxes in Canadian hemlock that plug into a 120 V outlet and stop at 140°F. The thing to know before buying is that the price on Golden Designs' own site is the ceiling. Costco listed the Barcelona at $1,699.99 against $3,499 from the brand, 51% less.
The cheapest cabins in the line are the Barcelona and the Gracia, both $3,499 at list and rated for one to two people. There's no store link for Dynamic or Maxxus on this site; the closest two-seater that has one is the JNH Lifestyles Ensi+ 2-Person at $2,899, also on a regular 15 A outlet. Look elsewhere if you want more than 140°F or a long warranty on the wood: the headline says "Limited Lifetime", the fine print gives 5 years on heaters and electronics and 1 year on the cabin.

Who makes Dynamic and Maxxus
Golden Designs Inc., which ships from a warehouse in Ontario, California. Both lines are sold on goldendesigninc.com; on October 6, 2026, maxxussaunas.com showed only a "Launching Soon" page. Golden Designs also sells its own-name saunas, covered at the end of this review.
Within Dynamic and Maxxus, the cabins differ mainly by size, panel count and EMF tier ("Low EMF", "Ultra Low EMF", "PureTech Near Zero EMF"). Most models also come in Elite or full-spectrum versions with their own prices; the table lists the versions in our database.
The Dynamic and Maxxus lineup

| Maxxus 4 Person Hemlock | Maxxus | 4 | 9 | Low EMF | 120 V / 20 A | 68 × 37 × 68 in | $5,999 | — |
| Lugano 3 Person Elite | Dynamic | 3 | 9 | Ultra Low EMF | 120 V / 20 A | 57 × 41 × 69 in | $6,999 | $2,799.99 |
The Santiago Full Spectrum is the only model here with near-infrared elements (2 near-infrared elements next to 5 carbon panels). The rest are far infrared only. Golden Designs doesn't publish wattage on its own pages; the 1,700 W for the Santiago and 2,200 W for the Lugano come from Costco's listings.
The models by size
Each line below gives the Dynamic or Maxxus cabins for that size, then the closest cabin with a store link on this site, matched on seats, power and price.
- One person: Barcelona 1–2 Person, $3,499 list. The brand calls it "Ideal for 1 Person" despite the 1–2 in the name; inside it's 36 × 32 × 67 in. The Gracia is the same footprint with one more panel at the same price. With a store link: the JNH Lifestyles Ensi+ 2-Person, $2,899, two seats on a 15 A outlet and a 2-year warranty.
- Two people: Maxxus Seattle 2 Person, $3,699. The widest two-seat interior under $4,000 here (44 × 38 × 68 in), against 43 × 37 × 68 in for the San Marino at $3,999. With a store link, the same JNH Ensi+ is the closest match.
- Near infrared: Santiago 2 Person Full Spectrum, $5,999 list, $2,699.99 at Costco. The only full-spectrum model in either line and the lowest EMF claim. With a store link: the Sun Home Solstice 2-Person, $6,199, far infrared only, unlike the Santiago, 7 years on the cabin, but it needs its own 20 A circuit.
- Three or four: Lugano 3 Person Elite or Maxxus 4 Person Hemlock. Both need a dedicated 120 V 20 A circuit. The Maxxus is longer inside (68 × 37 × 68 in) for four in a row; the Lugano is deeper and has the "Ultra Low EMF" panels. With a store link, on the same kind of circuit: the Sun Home Solstice 3-Person ($6,999) for three and the JNH Lifestyles Ensi 4-Person Red Cedar ($5,499) for four.
Where to buy, and why prices differ
Golden Designs prices its cabins on its own site with no discount, and the same cabins sell for much less elsewhere. Costco is where I found prices I could pin to a model and a date:
| Model | Brand price | Costco | Costco item | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Barcelona 1–2 Person | $3,499 | $1,699.99 | 330719 | $1,799.01 (51%) |
| Santiago 2 Person Full Spectrum | $5,999 | $2,699.99 | 1916739 | $3,299.01 (55%) |
| Lugano 3 Person Elite | $6,999 | $2,799.99 | 1948823 | $4,199.01 (60%) |
Two cautions. The Costco listings were out of stock on the day I checked, and Costco needs a membership. For the Gracia, San Marino, Cordoba and the Maxxus models I didn't find a Costco page, and the dealer prices I saw in search results aren't ones I could confirm on a product page. Before paying the list price, check other dealers for the exact model number.
Buying elsewhere also changes who you deal with: the store's return terms apply, not Golden Designs'. I haven't collected Costco's terms for saunas, so read them before ordering.
Low EMF, Ultra Low EMF, PureTech
Golden Designs gives a distance with its EMF figures, which JNH, for one, doesn't. Its model pages say 5–10 mG at 2–3 in from the heating panels for "Low EMF" models, 3–5 mG at 2–3 in for "Ultra Low EMF" (the Lugano 3 Person Elite), and less than 3 mG at 2–3 in for "PureTech Near Zero EMF" (the Santiago FS).
The brand's FAQ tells it differently: Ultra Low EMF carbon "less than 3 mG at about 2 in"; Low EMF NIR elements 5–10 mG. So the Lugano is 3–5 mG on its own page and under 3 mG in the FAQ. Neither has been independently measured as far as I can find. Whatever the figure, it's the brand's.
Far infrared vs full spectrum
Eight of the nine cabins here are far infrared from carbon panels only. The Santiago FS adds near-infrared elements for $2,000 more than the two-seat San Marino at brand prices. Golden Designs' Reserve line, below, is full spectrum throughout. What the bands are and how cabins compare is on our infrared sauna guide; for full spectrum only, full-spectrum saunas.
All nine stop at 140°F. Golden Designs calls 118–132°F the ideal range; for comparison, JNH lists 170°F on some models and traditional saunas run much hotter.
Warranty fine print
The product pages say "Limited Lifetime Warranty". The warranty page splits it up: heaters and electronics are covered for 5 years in a home (1 year in commercial use), the wood structure for 1 year. Putting an indoor cabin outside voids it.
One open question for Maxxus buyers: the warranty page is written for Dynamic, and I didn't find one for Maxxus. Golden Designs sells both from the same site, so I'd expect the same terms, but ask for them in writing.
Returns
You can cancel within 24 hours of ordering. After delivery you have 30 days, with an RMA, for a sauna that's new and in its original packaging. Golden Designs keeps 20%, and you pay shipping both ways and any storage (returns policy). On the Barcelona 1–2 Person at list price, the fee alone is $700.
Golden Designs' other saunas
Under its own name Golden Designs sells two more groups. The Reserve Edition is full spectrum indoors, 1 seat at $4,999, 2 seats at $5,999 and 4 seats at $7,999. The outdoor hybrids pair full-spectrum infrared with an electric rock heater and need a 240 V line:
| Model | Seats | Stove | Circuit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carinthia 3 Person Hybrid | 3 | 8.0 kW | 240 V / 40 A (stove and infrared) | $8,999 |
| Nora 2 Person Hybrid | 2 | 6.0 kW | 240 V / 30 A (stove and infrared) | $18,999 |
| Gargellen 5 Person Hybrid | 5 | 8.0 kW | 240 V / 40 A (stove and infrared) | $9,999 |
Unlike the indoor line, these carry a limited lifetime warranty on the cabin with 5 years on the wood structure; they're compared on outdoor infrared saunas.
Dynamic vs JNH vs Health Mate
Price-wise Dynamic sits between the two. A two-seat JNH Ensi+ costs $2,899, the Barcelona $3,499 at list (less at Costco), the Health Mate Enrich 2 $5,300. Dynamic gives the longer heater cover of the two cheaper brands, 5 years against JNH's 2, and like Health Mate it states its EMF figures with a distance; JNH doesn't. JNH allows up to 170°F on some models; Dynamic stops at 140°F. Health Mate costs more for full spectrum and a lifetime heater core. Reviews: JNH, Health Mate. Questions people ask
Are hybrid saunas good?
A hybrid puts an infrared system and an electric rock heater in one cabin, so you can choose a gentler infrared session or a hotter traditional one. Golden Designs' Carinthia, Nora and Gargellen are hybrids; none of the Dynamic or Maxxus cabins is. The trade-off is wiring: they need 240 V, where the infrared-only cabins plug into 120 V.
What is the difference between far infrared and near infrared heat?
Wavelength. Far infrared is the longer band that carbon panels give off; near infrared is shorter, next to visible red light, and usually comes from lamps or LED elements. In this line only the Santiago FS has both. More on infrared saunas.
How long should you stay in an infrared sauna?
Golden Designs' FAQ says the average session is about 30 minutes. Clinical infrared studies used shorter ones: 15 minutes at 60°C (140°F), followed by 30 minutes resting under a blanket, in patients with heart failure (Källström 2018, Tei 2016). Those are hospital protocols, not home advice. See our medical disclaimer.
What is the downside to an infrared sauna?
With Dynamic and Maxxus: a 140°F ceiling, a 1-year warranty on the cabin behind the "Limited Lifetime" headline, and a 20% fee plus freight both ways if you return one. For health questions, see whether infrared saunas are safe.
