HUUM sauna heater review: DROP, CLIFF, HIVE Mini and HIVE Flow compared with Harvia
4 products: 3 sauna heaters and 1 stove, $1,506 to $2,898. HUUM's selling point is the look: an open basket or column of stones instead of a box. It also has the longer warranty, 3 years for home use against Harvia's 2 plus a third with registration. Two things to know first: every electric HUUM needs a UKU controller bought separately, and in the US HUUM heaters are listed by SGS to UL 60335-1, not to UL 875 like Harvia's, so ask your inspector before you buy.

Verdict
the design matters to you, you want the longer warranty, and your local building department accepts a UL 60335-1 listing.
your inspector asks for UL 875 specifically, or you want a heater with built-in controls; the Harvia KIP60B has them, at $1,195.
Within the range: the DROP 6 is the entry point at $1,506; the HIVE Mini 9 holds the most stones (330 lb) for larger rooms; the HIVE Flow Mini is the wood-burning version.
The lineup
| Model | Type | Power | Room size | Wiring at 240 V | Stones | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HUUM DROP 6 kW | Electric, wall | 6 kW | 177–318 cu ft | 25 A, 30 A breaker, 10 AWG | 121 lb | $1,506 |
| HUUM CLIFF 6 kW | Electric, floor column | 6 kW | 177–318 cu ft | 25 A, 30 A breaker, 10 AWG; 208 V figures listed | 165 lb | $2,347 |
| HUUM HIVE Mini 9 kW | Electric, floor | 9 kW | 283–460 cu ft | 37.5 A, 50 A breaker, 6 AWG; 208 V figures listed | 330 lb | $2,657 |
| HUUM HIVE Flow Mini 8.5 kW | Wood stove | 8.5 kW | 212–494 cu ft | No power; 4.5 in flue | 231 lb | $2,898 |
Topture's prices are for the heater alone. Topture also sells DROP 6 and HIVE Mini 9 packages with the UKU controller and stones; I don't have a price for the UKU on its own. The CLIFF and HIVE Mini also list figures for 208 V supplies, with a smaller room size. Wiring numbers are from the dealer and are for a conversation with a licensed electrician, not instructions. The HIVE Flow Mini needs a class T450 chimney and a certified installer; its stones (231 lb) aren't included.

Same dealer, same power, so the prices are comparable. Where they differ:
- Total cost: the KIP is the only one with nothing else to buy. The other three need a controller.
- Warranty: HUUM's 3 years for private use beat Harvia's 2, though HUUM's warranty excludes elements, stones and sensors, and Harvia gives a third year if you register.
- Inspection: Harvia's UL 875 listing is the sauna-heater standard; HUUM's SGS listing is to a general appliance standard.
- Wood: neither brand's stove here has a US listing; the HIVE Flow Mini is EN 15821 certified, the Harvia M3 CE marked, and the M3 costs $969 against $2,898.
Harvia's full lineup is in the Harvia review; every heater we track is on the sauna heaters page.
Certification and your inspector
Per Topture, HUUM's electric heaters are "SGS listed to UL 60335-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60335-1". UL 875 is titled "Electric Dry-Bath Heaters"; UL 60335-1 covers household and similar electrical appliances in general. I won't tell you which one your inspector will accept, because that varies: ask your local building department before you buy, and have a licensed electrician do the wiring.
How hot does it get?
Topture says a DROP with the UKU controller and a bench-level sensor reaches 194°F. I've seen higher figures quoted for HUUM heaters, but not from a source I could check, so until I can read HUUM's manual the table has no top temperature. The stone weights in the table are Topture's; for the HIVE Mini, check the manual before you order stones.
Water, electricity and the controller
Water on the stones: yes, all three electric models are rated for dry or wet use. Electricity: a heater draws at most its rated power, so a 6 kW heater on full uses up to 6 kWh per hour; multiply by your electricity rate for the cost of an hour at full power. Once the room is hot, the thermostat cycles the elements, so actual use is lower, by an amount the brands don't publish. Controller: UKU Local is a panel only; UKU Wi-Fi adds HUUM's app.
Returns go through the dealer: at Topture, request within 30 days of delivery, written RA only; restocking fee of at least 25%; buyer pays return shipping and the original freight; 2–5% card processing fee not refunded (refund policy). I haven't summarized owner reviews for HUUM yet.
Questions people ask
Is HUUM a good sauna heater?
It has a 3-year warranty for home use, a distinctive open-stone design and a wide range from $1,506 to $2,657 for the heater alone. The open questions are certification (SGS to UL 60335-1, not UL 875) and the top temperature, which I haven't confirmed in HUUM's manual.
Is HUUM or Harvia better?
Neither across the board. HUUM has the longer warranty and the design; Harvia has the UL 875 listing and, in the KIP, built-in controls. At 6 kW from the same dealer: HUUM DROP $1,506, Harvia KIP60B $1,195.
How much does a HUUM sauna heater cost?
At Topture on Oct 14, 2026: DROP 6 kW $1,506, CLIFF 6 kW $2,347, HIVE Mini 9 kW $2,657, HIVE Flow Mini 8.5 kW $2,898, heater only. The UKU controller and stones are extra.
Can I pour water on my HUUM sauna heater?
Yes. The DROP, CLIFF and HIVE Mini are all rated for dry or wet sauna use.
Do sauna heaters use a lot of electricity?
Up to their rating: a 6 kW heater uses at most 6 kWh in an hour at full power, a 9 kW one 9 kWh. Multiply by your rate per kWh for the worst case; the thermostat brings the real figure down once the room is hot.
